We will collect some personal data from you when you respond to a Historic Environment Scotland (HES) consultation on our Citizen Space Consultation Hub.

Personal data

This personal data includes your name, email address and whether you are responding on behalf of an organisation or as an individual. We may ask you for other personal information such as your age and/or gender: this would be for a specific purpose to do with the individual consultation where we need to ensure we are collecting responses across demographic groups.

Purpose of processing

We use the information gathered in the consultation to inform our policy-making, improve our services and to gather views from the public about designations and listings. The lawful basis for processing your information is public task when it is directly related to our role in protecting Scotland’s environment and properties in care. We use legitimate interests as the lawful basis for improving our services to you.

Use of personal data

The personal data collected will be used to manage the consultation. Following your submission, we will send you an acknowledgement using your email address and if you give your permission, we may contact you about the consultation in future.

If you give us permission we will publish your name with the consultation response, but we will never publish your email or contact address.

Storage

We will store your consultation response for 2 years following the end of the consultation. Delib, our third-party processor, will store responses for 60 days and then delete them. Your personal data will be stored in the UK and will not be transferred outside of the EEA. You can see more information about how Delib process your personal data in their privacy notice at the bottom of this page.

Your rights

You have the right to access the personal data we have about you, the right to rectify any inaccuracies and the right to request its erasure. You can see more information about your rights and how we manage your personal data in our privacy notice.
